Aboriginal Welcome to Country

Wyanga Elders are proud and privileged to provide Aboriginal Welcome to Country for your

Wyanga Aboriginal Aged Care Program acknowledges that we are on the
traditional lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora nation and are privileged to be able to work
on their ancient lands which they have nurtured for thousands of years. We also pay our respect
to Aboriginal Elders, past and present.

Aboriginal peoples have lived on this ancient continent for thousands of generations. To
Welcome you to Country shows respect to Mother Earth and the traditional lands where the
ceremony is taking place as well as acknowledging the traditional custodians and the continued
relationship that Aboriginal people have with the land. Traditional custodians are the descendants
of those lands. Aboriginal people also strongly believe that we all have custodial responsibilities for
the land, no matter where we are.

Welcome to Country ceremonies can be provided for the many different Aboriginal occasions now
widely celebrated across Australia or they can be provided for your organisations special events,
functions and official meetings held during the year.

Welcome to Country can be performed by an Aboriginal Elder and can also be accompanied by a
Smoking Ceremony and dancers.

An Acknowledgment of Country may be provided for smaller occasions such as school assemblies
or staff meetings.

To request Welcome to Country by one of our Elders please contact us on
