About Wyanga:

In 1994, two remarkable Aboriginal grandmothers set about establishing Wyanga Aboriginal Aged Care Program.

Today, Wyanga’s programs are funded by the Federal Government, through the Commonwealth Home Support Program and Home Care Package Program, with a small number of clients on NDIS programs as well.

At Wyanga, we strive for excellence and best practice in the provision of culturally appropriate services and quality care for our Elders in their own home and in the community.

Your role:

The purpose of the Wyanga CEO position is to run and grow the organisation through a Strategic Roadmap to achieve Wyanga’s Vision, which they will achieve by managing the organisation and its people; actively engaging and building relationships with all relevant internal external stakeholders; and above all centering Aboriginal Elders and our community in everything we do

Key responsibilities and scope of the CEO role include:

  • – Driving the highest possible quality of care for the Aboriginal Elders we serve, to ensure they are at the centre of everything we do to embed the Aged Care Quality Standards
  • – Fostering an employee culture of safety, collaboration, and respect
  • – Ensuring overall coordination of Wyanga programs and services, and providing high-level advice
  • – Developing and deploying the next Strategic Roadmap (2023-2026)
  • – Overseeing efficient, effective, and compliant business systems and processes including, but not limited to, governance, risk management, financials, HR, record-keeping
  • – Represent and promote Wyanga externally and in our community
  • – Develop and negotiate external partnership opportunities

About you:

You will have:

  • – Clear passion for Wyanga’s vision, as well as adherence to our values around community, collaboration, inclusion and respect.
  • – Experience in the Aged Care sector, providing safe, quality care and services in line with the Ages Care Quality Standards and legislation.
  • – Strong ties to the Aboriginal community and experience delivering in an Aboriginal or cross-cultural environment.
  • – Ability to develop and drive Wyanga’s strategic roadmap
  • – Knowledge of clinical data and its management
  • – Experience in developing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders as well as experience working with Government agencies.

Our team of over 20 provides care services to around 60 local Aboriginal Elders living in their own homes. Our services include transportation, groceries, medical appointment support, as well as group activities for clients such as health and wellbeing activities, social activities, and a culturally safe Aboriginal Men’s Group.

Your role:

The purpose of the Office Assistant role is to deliver friendly and efficient customer service to our clients, staff, and visitors. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a warm atmosphere for all Wyanga guests and assist staff with general administrative duties.

Key responsibilities and scope of the Office Assistant position include:

  • Act as a first point of contact for staff, clients, and visitors to our office. Greeting them in person and creating a welcoming environment
  • Reception duties including answering telephone, monitoring, and replying to emails
  • Managing incoming mail and document deliveries, including Care Worker timesheets
  • Ensure registers (including PPE, complaints, and maintenance registers) are maintained and correct with appropriate actions being taken. Appropriate actions (depending on the register) include, escalating to relevant staff and issuing equipment.
  • Various office administration tasks including data entry, printing, scanning and management of office supplies.
  • Assist with preparation of various meeting agendas and documents including the Wyanga monthly newsletter
  • Ensure client areas are clean and tidy to ensure we are providing a safe environment for all

About you:

You will have:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong ties to the local Aboriginal community
  • Sound skills in Microsoft programs and data entry
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working within the Aged Care or Home and Community Care industries (preferable)
  • First Aid and Work Health and Safety certificates (preferable)
  • Experience working within our database system Care Manager 3 (preferable)

Support / Care Worker

Support / Care Worker

Care worker position We are often looking for care workers to support our Elders. Care workers provide personal, physical and emotional support to Elders who require assistance with their daily lives. They are essential to Wyanga and the services we are able to provide to our clients. We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate Care worker staff to join our team.

Mandatory training requirements:
For Wyanga staff members to provide quality care, we require you to have knowledge of and be certified in the following areas:

  • Certificate III and/or IV in Aged Care / Home Care
  • First aid
  • Work health & safety
  • Manual handling
